vice president spectrum & network analyzers, emc & antenna test, rohde & schwarz

christina geßner is vice president at rohde & schwarz, leading the spectrum and network analyzer, and emc & antenna test departments in the test and measurement division. previous to her current role, from 2004 until 2018 she held various positions in test and measurement at rohde & schwarz, initially in strategic marketing, followed by application development, product management, and product development.

she began her career with siemens mobile communications, representing the company as delegate to the 3gpp standardization process for umts and gsm/edge from 1998 – 2004. she holds a degree in rf engineering from the university of hanover, germany.

head of research unit, silicon austria

dr. bernhard auinger is staff scientist and head of the research unit “coexistence & electromagnetic compatibility” within the research center silicon austria labs.

he holds a phd degree from tu graz in rf & wireless communications and has been investigating emc in power electronics. additionally, he dedicated himself to emc in automotive in the semiconductor industry.

director rf development center, volkswagen

dr. johann heyen is director of volkswagen‘s rf development center responsible for emc and antenna development. from 2016 to 2020 he headed the e/e networking ecu & system functions development. he joined volkswagen 2011 in the emc department. prio to that dr. heyen held various positions with epcos ag, developing, producing and testing rf-frontend modules.

in 2004 he earned his doctorate degree from the technical university of braunschweig. he graduated as dipl.-ing. and master of science in electrical engineering from the technical university of braunschweig and the university of rhode island, usa, 1999 respectively.

founder silent solutions llc

lee hill has over 30 years of experience providing hands-on hardware troubleshooting and design reviews to solve and prevent elusive regulatory and functional electrical noise problems. he is founding partner of silent solutions llc and gmbh, an electromagnetic compatibility (emc) and rf design, troubleshooting, and training firm established in 1992.

lee teaches emc worldwide and is a member of adjunct faculty at worcester polytechnic institute (wpi) and an emc instructor at university of oxford (england), he earned his msee in electromagnetics from the missouri university of science and technology emc laboratory, where he studied under dr.’s tom van doren, todd hubing, and james drewniak. lee is the named inventor of three us patents for emi control in electronic systems, and provides expert witness services for patent litigation.

senior field applications engineer, würth electronics

mohamed comes from a power supply design and development background. he worked in the aerospace industry for 10 years designing power supplies on various civilian and military projects. in addition, he was responsible for emc testing, filter design and compliance.

in the past 6 years before joining wurth electronics, he taught a variety of subjects at university towards a btec degree in electronics engineering. mohamed al-alami joined wurth in april 2015 as a field applications engineer responsible for the south of the england, wales and ireland.

technical director, element materials technology

michael derby is technical director at element materials in their connected technologies group, supporting manufacturers and colleagues in the test and approval of radio enabled equipment. he has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, with testing and approvals roles, including emc, radio performance, and rf exposure sar. he also provides training and technical support to the industry through advisory projects and seminar courses.

within element, michael is a certification body for the usa and canada; an eu notified body for the red and a uk approved body for the rer. michael is an active member of the redca (red compliance association) and tcb council as well as technical secretary of the emc test lab association.

director business management, frankonia germany emc solutions gmbh

dr. daniel feyerlein is vice president at frankonia, a leading solution provider for emc & antenna solutions. with more than 15 years’ experience in the field of product and project business, he is actively developing the emc and antenna test market along with world-leading automotive oem’s. in 2009 he got a master of science degree in strategy from danube university in austria followed by the doctor’s degree in business administration in 2015.

daniel contributed to social science with a focus to production relocation, acceptance, and benefits along with the country-of-origin effect, strengthening competitiveness, as well as performance management and strategy.

director strategy, albatross projects gmbh

martin holds a bsc in physics (bath university), msc microwave electronics (pierre & marie curie, paris vi) and an mba (open university). he has over 30 years industry experience in emc, microwave and wireless industries, including posts as emc engineer, design and test of anechoic chambers and the design and integration of rf test systems.

he has published multiple ieee technical papers and articles internationally. martin is secretary cispr a wg1, a member of the uk national emc committee and received the iec 1906 award for work on cispr 16 in 2016.

ceo, emc partner ag

with over 30 years’ experience in the emc industry, nicholas wright holds the position of ceo at emc partner ag based in laufen switzerland. besides his work at emc partner ag, he is also a member of the sae ae2 lightning committee responsible for the technical content of do-160 section 22.
